Our "diving" services
For your safety, those services are supervised by a State instructor and a captain.
The exploration
Dives
The exploration dives are usually done at the pass of Tuheiava, a 20/25 minutes boat trip from the village. For those reasons, we often go for 2 successive dives.
Schedules are not fixed. Those depend on the tides and if we are notified in advance of your arrival time in Tikehau.
Whatever the direction the current comes from and whether be it from left or right of the Tuheiava’s pass, the dives are much easier and less deep at Tikehau than in any other atolls.
Local underwater wildlife has nothing to envy: large hammerhead, tiger, tapete, grey reef, blacktip sharks, as well as humphead wrasses, sea turtles, shoals of longface emperors, barracudas, great barracudas, jackfishes, taias, atures are regularly observed.
Good to know :
if there is spare space on board, the non-divers will be able to join us on our trip to the pass and discover it snorkelling or from the boat. no need to worry anymore to find a place opened to grab a bite after your morning dive: Tahitian raw fish, sashimi and other local specialities will be waiting for you at the Pension’s snack!

« Manta Rays »
Dives
Tikehau has the particularity to have a « cleaning station » available to everyone.
Manta rays, sometimes reaching 5 meters wide, come to get rid of their parasites thanks to small cleaner wrasses.
The site’s 6 meters depth enables observations while snorkelling and diving.
This place will delight every profile, whether you are a non-diver, an informed underwater photographer or making a first dive.
Early in the morning is the best time for us to have the best chance to meet them. However, nature sometimes prevents us from observing them without necessarily knowing why.
The Coco Dive’s instructors continue the census of these animals, which started in 2000, following the example of the professional photograph Vincent Truchet (https://www.vincent-truchet.com), via the Polynesian Shark Observatory (www.orp.pf).

First
Dive
First dives in Tikehau are performed on extraordinary sites at a depth of 6 meters. You have the choice of doing them either on the mantas’ site or at the pass. It will depend on your preferences and the feasibilities on the very moment.
First, the mantas are observed, followed by all the lagoon’s fauna, such as Parrotfishes, wrasses, small blacktip sharks… on a sandy background.
At the pass, you will find greater visibility on a coral plateau where all the reef fishes will reveal themselves in front of your eyes. With a little luck, beautiful surprises such as sea turtles, hammerheads or shoals of barracuda will let you approach them.
Performing your first dive at Tikehau is the guarantee of an unforgettable experience!
